There are times in our lives where we face challenges which can leave us struggling and feeling lost, not knowing which way to turn and wondering how we got there. We try to cope but end up feeling stressed, tired, unhappy and experiencing anxiety. We can become stuck, wanting things to change but just don’t know how and this can be a time when we seek counselling.
Helping you to a place of deeper understanding and self-acceptance
How I work:
I provide a warm and safe environment for you to openly explore your thoughts and feelings without the fear of being judged. The counsellor-client relationship is an integral part of the therapy and you will be valued, encouraged and supported throughout our sessions together.
Part of our work will involve exploring your past and patterns of behaviour formed over the course of your life. This can help us to understand why you cope with things in a particular way, why you feel and react the way you do and links to how this may all be affecting your life in the present day.
Exploring this will give you a deeper understanding of yourself allowing you to unlock suppressed feelings and emotions, letting go of the things which are holding you back enabling you to deal with them and move forward.
I am an integrative counsellor working mainly from a psychodynamic approach but also incorporating the concepts from other approaches such as humanistic, person-centred and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) in our work together. These approaches can all complement each other and I will always work in your best interest.
I have considerable experience of working with those who have suffered a bereavement, helping them through one of the most difficult times of their life and was an accredited bereavement volunteer with the national charity Cruse for a number of years.
I have also counselled for a local charity in Saffron Walden, working with young adults on a range of issues they may be experiencing such as anxiety, panic attacks, stress related issues, career choices, relationship issues, family issues, lack of confidence and low self-esteem.
