Along the way life can throw up many challenges, some may be big and some may be small but it's what these challenges mean for us and the impact they are having. We try to cope but can end up feeling stressed, anxious, tired and unhappy which can affect our mind, body and our whole way of being.
We can find ourselves feeling lost and not knowing which way to turn, living a life we hadn't planned and wondering how we got there.
Counselling gives you the space to acknowledge what you are going through and how you are feeling, helping you to find ways to move through what is happening.
I offer confidential non-judgemental counselling for adults and couples.
How I work:
I offer a warm and safe environment for you to openly explore your thoughts and feelings without the fear of being judged. The counsellor-client relationship is an integral part of the therapy and you will be valued, encouraged and supported throughout our sessions together.
Part of the work will involve exploring your past and patterns of behaviour formed over the course of your life. This can help us to understand why you cope with things in a particular way, why you feel and react the way you do and links to how this may all be affecting your life in the present day.
Exploring this will give you a deeper understanding of yourself allowing you to unlock repressed feelings and emotions, letting go of the things which are holding you back enabling you to deal with them and move forward.
Counselling can help you to gain more self-awareness and self-belief, an acceptance of who you are allowing you to have more compassion for yourself, enabling you to grow and live your life the way you want to.
I am an integrative counsellor working mainly from a psychodynamic approach but also incorporating the concepts from other approaches such as humanistic and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) in our work together. These approaches can all complement each other and I will always work in your best interest.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and am a registered member of the BACP.
I have considerable experience of working with those who have suffered a bereavement and was an accredited bereavement volunteer with the national charity Cruse for a number of years.
I have also counselled for a local charity in Saffron Walden, working with young adults on a range of issues they may be experiencing such as anxiety, panic attacks, stress related issues, career choices, relationship issues, family issues, lack of confidence and low self-esteem.
Before training as a counsellor I worked in London in the areas of banking and telecommunications.
