About me

About me

Hi I am Lisa and I am a qualified Person Centred Counsellor. I am a BACP member and also have a clean DBS.

I work within a home environment, ensuring I abide by the BACP ethical guidelines and ensure your confidentiality is upheld at all times.

I have varied experience, from working with young adults in a School environment, to working at a local Hospice supporting people through their bereavement. I work within private practice with clients with various issues.

Why I became a counsellor.

I made the decision to study the person centred approach, when I attended therapy myself for bereavement. I found the experience insightful and empowering. I started my training and found that to be empathic to situations I needed more life experience, therefore, I continued with my career within the care sector gaining valuable experience within the person centred approach. I then continued my studies at MMU gaining a Diploma in Person Centred Counselling. I will continue to learn and attend further training courses. From starting my training I was passionate to set up a home practice, to give my clients a safe and warm environment.

How can I help you

Person Centred Counselling is led by you the Client, as I believe, that you are your own expert. I believe the answers are within you, I am here to help and guide you to find those answers.

I am happy to support you with any issues that you may be facing. You can feel free of fear and defenses and be open, congruent to how you are feeling. Feel trust in me that
If you are thinking of having counselling, you are going through some difficulty right now and
probably feeling low or stressed, but, although it may not seem like it, deciding to have
counselling is a positive step forward.

I provide a confidential, supportive and non-judgmental space, where problems and upsetting
situations can be discussed and explored; to gain understanding, relieve stress and ease
emotional pain. We all encounter difficulties in life and sometimes need support and some
personal time, even if family, friends or work colleagues are trying to help.

I work with a wide variety of clients, dealing with issues such as anxiety, stress
and depression, work-related stress, bereavement, loss and change, trauma and its consequences, relationship issues and family problems.

Making the first step.

I know that to decide to come for counselling can be a huge step...So if you are still at the stage where you are wondering whether counselling is for you I hope I can put your mind at ease.

I will not judge you, I will offer you a friendly voice at the end of the phone. We can have a brief chat and you can get a sense of how we can work together. You can ask any questions regarding counselling.

If you chose to make an appointment I am fairly flexible and can offer you a time slot to suit you. The sessions are for 50 minutes. After the first session you can decide if you are happy to continue and we can book the next session.

As we work together, we will find the solutions to the challenges that you bring to me.
