Dr. Lisa Alfrey CPsychol Chartered Psychologist
35 New Broad Street
I am a chartered counselling psychologist registered with the Health & Care Professions Council and the British Psychological Society.
Everyone experiences bumps in the road, however when those bumps become more difficult to cope with it may be an opportunity to look for support to learn new ways of coping with these situations.
My experience has been varied from long term therapy with adults in a community counselling setting to long term play therapy work with children in schools. I have experience with short term therapy from working in Harley Street oncology department and for various charities around London. I worked as a NHS primary care counsellor for GP surgeries, where clients were experiencing anxiety (generalised anxiety disorder), depression, relationship issues and a range other of difficulties in their everyday lives. While working in an oncology department, I have supported individuals and families who have been affected by cancer. This involves working with anxiety, depression, returning to work, relationship issues and other concerns that have arisen for the patients or their loved ones.
My theoretical approach is integrative. I combine cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), humanistic, existential phenomenological and psychodynamic models in my therapeutic work with clients. In all my therapeutic work, I abide by the ethical codes of the British Psychological Society (BPS).
In the past, I worked for Bupa health and Wellbeing delivering launch programmes nationwide and in the Psychological Services Trauma Team.
I offer supervision and academic tutoring for DCounsPsych students.
