Additional information

Initial Consultation

I believe that the therapeutic relationship between the client and therapist is an important part of counselling and hypnotherapy. I offer a free 45 minute Initial Consultation, unless providing a home visit, where we can explore your needs and concerns and I can explain how I work as a therapist. This also gives you the opportunity to ask questions and helps you clarify that you are happy to work together. We may also agree an initial number of sessions. Sessions usually last 60 minutes, unless otherwise agreed. It is most effective to meet once a week. However, the frequency of sessions may change in line with your needs.

Counselling

The number of sessions required varies depending on the individual. However, we will agree the best time to review therapy progress. Each 60 minute session is £50 for individuals and £65 per session for couples. where appropriate home visits can be arranged, the price is normally £65 depending on distance and parking.

Hypnotherapy

The number of sessions required is dependent on the clients issues. This will be discussed and agreed during a free Initial Consultation. Each 60 minute session is £50. For smoking cessation I may recommend a one off 90 minute session, although this will depend on the clients needs. A price is available for this following discussion or Initial Consultation.

Counselling and Psychotherapy

Counselling aims to create an environment where you are provided with a safe and supportive environment to explore problems you are experiencing. You may seek counselling to help with a specific problem, to help resolve conflicts in your life, or simply to gain greater confidence in any part of your life. I work with people wanting to feel more confident in their work environment including interview confidence. Counselling can help you understand your relationships with family, friends and work colleagues, helping you form and maintain relationships that are positive and rewarding. Talking to a trained professional can help you look at problems from a different perspective and equip you with the necessary strategies to work through problems.

I believe that through a trusting therapeutic relationship you can gain insight into the reasons behind a sense of dissatisfaction or a problem you may be experiencing. The relationship between you and your counsellor is one of the most important factors in the effectiveness of counselling. As someone who is trained to listen to your problems, I can help you develop an understanding of yourself and others, and provide you with a supporting, safe environment where you can work on the problems you face and facilitate positive change.

My approach is Integrative, which means that I draw on a number of different approaches to counselling and psychotherapy. These include Person Centred, Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioural, Solution Focused, Gestalt and Transactional Analysis.

As an accredited counsellor and psychotherapist I am bound by a code of ethics. Therapy is a personal journey and it is important to recognise that there will be times where you may be talking about painful feelings and difficult decisions. However, you can rest assured that whatever is discussed in each session is confidential (subject to legal and ethical exceptions). Full ethical framework can be found on www.nationalcounsellingsociety.org/about/code-of-ethics/.

Some difficulties brought to counselling: I have worked with a wide variety of issues. Some clients start with a clear idea of the issues they face. However, it is common for someone to feel simply that their life is not fulfilling, something is wrong or that they feel unhappy.

Some people are troubled with eating patterns or weight issues which negatively impact on the rest of their lives. An empathetic, non-judgmental environment can help to explore the reasons behind these issues and the impact they are having on a happy and fulfilled life.  If you believe that you or someone close to you is suffering from an eating disorder, call me for a chat, and visit Beating Eating Disorders BEAT http://www.b-eat.co.uk  It is normal for grief and loss to feel like an emotional rollercoaster. I offer an empathetic and supportive environment which can help those struggling to work though the associated emotions and physical effects or grief and loss.

Some of the common issues I can help with are:

  • Grief and loss
  • Low self-confidence and self esteem
  • Depression
  • Relationships issues
  • Stress and anxiety
  • Phobias
  • Panic attacks
  • Weight issues

Hypnotherapy

What is Hypnosis? Hypnosis is a safe and natural state of deep relaxation where the mind can detach from everyday worries and stresses. Hypnosis helps the subconscious mind to become receptive to beneficial changes. With the guidance of a Hypnotherapist is possible to use this state of mind to make the changes you wish. It is a comfortable and relaxing experience where the client is in control and able to hear and speak.

Self-hypnosis techniques can be taught to help you cope with cravings and stress.

With the assistance of a properly trained and skilled Hypnotherapist, it is possible to use the state of hypnosis to make long lasting adjustments to behaviours and feelings that we wish to change. I may recommend using hypnotherapy alone or as part of counselling, depending upon the needs of the individual.

How Hypnotherapy can help you:

  • Stop Smoking
  • Nail  Biting
  • Weight Management
  • Exam Nerves
  • Phobias
  • Confidence building
  • Relaxation
  • Healthy Sleeping Habits
  • Childbirth
  • Stress Management
