How can Counselling help?/How I like to work?
It can feel very difficult to reach out to someone for support, particularly if we have always been the one others have gone to for help.
People come to counselling for many different reasons :-
Some are wishing to gain a deeper insight into who they really are and what they want out of their life and what makes them happy. Others come because they want some support through a difficult time or they may have some set goals in mind and are wanting to work with someone to achieve those. I will be guided by you.
I feel it is important in my role as Counsellor to offer a confidential non-judgemental listening ear and to allow the space and time for you the client to tell your story, this is also hugely important for building trust and rapport between us.
I won't ever rush you or try to tell you what you should do I will offer reflections based on what you present.
My approach is very much tailored to you the client.
I see myself as a warm empathic compassionate companion who is there to support you on your journey with counselling.
What I am offering
I am qualified person-centred counsellor but I use CBT, Gestalt and other approaches in my work.
I have experience in working long term with clients and have experience using CBT and solution focused techniques over a set number of weeks.
I see some clients face to face at a clinic in Bradley Stoke but also work from home with Skype.
I have experience working with a wide range of concerns including:- Relationships, low self-esteem and confidence, anxiety and depression, stress, abuse, bereavement, identity, physical health conditions, and abuse.
If you would like to start counselling with me we will begin with a free counselling assessment.
If you feel comfortable to continue we can agree a number of sessions and review how things are going at regular intervals.
