About me

I offer face-to-face counselling and psychotherapy sessions from my home in Weybridge and online video sessions via Zoom.

I am a very experienced Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist, qualified for over 20 years and Accredited by the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) since 2004.  My private practice is in Weybridge and I offer both long and short-term, face-to-face or online, counselling and psychotherapy to adults.

My therapeutic style is warm and interactive - I don't just sit and 'listen'. I provide a confidential, safe space for people to explore their difficulties and I respond with a broad range of interventions and techniques to help people address these. Clients are often able to identify patterns of thinking and behaviours that no longer serve them and make changes that lead to a more satisfying life.

When people contact me, I offer a free 30-minute telephone consultation, after which, I usually suggest we schedule one to three sessions to discuss their difficulties further. This provides an opportunity for people to experience how I work and allows me to assess if I can effectively support them longer term. If we decide to proceed together, we then agree a contract to include number of sessions, goals etc which is reviewed periodically.

Training, qualifications & experience

I qualified in 2001 with a Diploma in Integrative Counselling and later as a Clinical Supervisor in 2010. Since qualifying I have continued to undertake significant specialist training in areas such as Psychological Trauma (including the Rewind Technique, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and Somatic Trauma Therapy), Addiction, Anxiety, Depression, Anger Management, Relationship Difficulties and most recently in Ecopsychology and Community Grief Tending.  I incorporate the knowledge I gain from my continued professional development, into my therapeutic practice and work with expertise in many areas.

In addition to my private practice, I have worked as a counsellor and clinical supervisor at Kingston University for the past 14 years.  I have also worked as a psychotherapist at the Priory Hospital in Roehampton for a number of years and I was the senior counsellor at the Drug and Alcohol Foundation in Central London for five years.

I have been an Accredited Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy since 2004.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
