About me

I am a qualified therapeutic counsellor with experience of working within mental health and social care services, as well as personal experience of life, with all its challenges.

My practice is grounded in my firm belief that we are all valuable, worthy and special.  We are all born unique but the influences around us shape who we subsequently become, leaving us feeling disconnected from our true self. However, it is possible to feel comfortable with our true self and at peace within - acceptance is the key!

"The curious paradox is when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change." - Carl Rogers

My aim is to walk alongside you on your journey towards finding out who you really are and not who your life experiences have forced you to be.  I  hope to help you grow and make positive changes in your life whatever is causing you difficulty, perhaps stress, anxiety, depression, bereavement, relationship issues or a tendency to have a negative mindset.   I would like to help you build your self-confidence, improve your self-esteem and feel more able to manage life circumstances, giving you more confidence in your ability to cope and recognition of the positives in your life.

My hope is that you can feel comfortable, safe and secure, happy in the knowledge that I do not judge you, I value you as a unique person, acknowledging the courage you have shown  in recognising that you need support.   Most of all, I care about you and want you to thrive, so whatever you are finding difficult it is always possible to feel better.

I look forward to beginning our journey together, towards a better and more positive future.

"What I am is good enough if I would only be it openly" - Carl Rogers

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a registered member of the BACP and abide by their ethical framework and code of conduct.

I have a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and Bsc (Hons) in Health and Social Care with additional training with CRUSE (Bereavement Support) and Transactional Analysis workshops.  I also have experience of working in mental health services and with older adults, so have understanding of the issues related to being a carer and the difficulties in looking after yourself when helping a loved one who is needing your support.

I am currently studying for qualifications in:
CBT
Mindfulness
Life Coaching
Counselling Children and Adolescents

I look forward to hearing from you and if you do not feel that I am the therapist for you, I wish you all the best in your journey.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
