About me

I am a BACP and NCPS Senior Accredited Counsellor offering short and long term counselling to support people to make the changes they want in their lives. All sessions are held online.

How can counselling help?

I offer a warm, non judgmental, empathic approach. Are you feeling anxious or depressed? Having problems with your relationships? Experiencing a difficult time in your life such as separation, divorce, peri menopause, menopause or struggling with negative thoughts about yourself? We can work together, at your own pace to think about how you can deal with the issues you are facing in a different way and help you to understand what is happening, why it is happening and the changes you could make. I work primarily using transactional analysis which is one of the most accessible types of counselling, offering a space to promote personal growth and change. You can read more about transactional analysis here: https://www.counselling-directory.org.uk/transactional-analysis.html.

About me

I have over 15 years of experience in a range of areas. My background is working in mental health settings. I work with people who are experiencing anxiety, anger, depression, stress, low self-esteem, separation and divorce, behavioural problems, relationship difficulties, employment issues. I specialise in people experiencing menopause symptoms and mens mental health.

What happens next?

I welcome you to contact me via email or phone/ text. Following a short telephone discussion, we can book an initial session, this allows us to discuss in a little more detail what you hope to gain from counselling and helps to clarify whether you feel I'm the right counsellor for you - vital for building a trusting relationship. If we decide to work together we will then find a convenient slot to begin (this doesn't have to be the same time or day each week).

There is no commitment or obligation to continue past the first session if you don’t wish to. If we both find that the session was helpful we will arrange to meet weekly until our work is done (or done enough to end counselling).

You are welcome to call between the hours of 10am - 5pm on weekdays. I may not always be able to answer as I may be with other clients but do leave an answerphone message and I will return your call as soon as I'm able.

Emails are welcome at any time.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
