Hi, I'm Linda. Thank you for taking the time to look through my profile, now that you are here, please read on and see if you recognise things that are affecting your life. I offer one to one counselling in a confidential setting, face to face and by telephone. Full list of prices and address listed below. Every day life brings its own stresses and can have a traumatic effect on every-ones well-being. We are now recognising more than ever the effects of anxiety, loneliness, depression, relationship issues, poor communication loss & bereavement.

More men are seeking counselling than ever, thanks to current media coverage, so if you need to speak in confidence with someone, why not call or email now? I am pleased to add Lets Talk Mens' Mental Health group to my client base.

Anxiety or depression... do you understand how they differ?

What is Anxiety? Caring too much about everything.
What is depression? Not caring about anything.
Both can be traumatic, together they bring great distress.

Does anxiety stop you living the life you want to lead? Anxiety can have a debilitating affect on daily life, often presenting with physical sensations such as chest pain, palpitations, shallow breathing, pins and needles, nausea, shaking, sweating etc. This may result in feeling concern with your physical health... it's a vicious circle. Continuous daily anxiety often brings about depression, as it lowers mood and confidence.

Through counselling you can learn techniques on how to manage your anxiety.

Life changes - Menopause

Woman experiencing menopausal symptoms can also suffer with loss of confidence, erratic changes in mood and depression. Through talking with an experienced counsellor, you may gain a better understanding of how and why these changes affect you and learn to manage symptoms more effectively.

Working together - Relationship counselling

Clear and open Communication is key in all relationships. Counselling allows clients to have difficult conversations in a private and respectful one-to one setting, without the blame game!

Do you feel that you just don't talk any more? The longer it goes on, the more of a habit it becomes. This might affect personal relationships with friends and family. Do the rows go on and on, repeating the same patterns over and over, do you feel you are walking on eggshells.....it's so draining isn't it?

Relationship difficulties are often caused through lack of clear communication: it is vital in any relationship to feel listened to, understood and valued, counselling helps you to have the conversations you need to have, enabling you to get your message across without blame and confrontation.

Counselling can bring positive changes through exploring issues relating to conflict and exploring new more helpful patterns of behaviour. We often do not recognise that we see things differently to others, we expect others to understand how we feel and second guess what we feel others are thinking. Counselling helps clarify distorted thinking and helps clients find new answers to old problems.

Lets talk about what to expect and what counselling provides

Counselling is about finding an answer that works for you.

Whatever your age or problems you might encounter, talking to someone in confidence who is not making judgements, listening to you and valuing your views, without giving you advice can help you understand what is stopping you from enjoying life. It can help you look at what's going on from a different perspective. Our way of thinking is often what's holding us back, so if we can recognise how to change thinking patterns, we start making progress.

Coming to counselling for the first time may seem a daunting experience, it is a big step to take, it means you are ready to make changes or gain a new understanding of your issues, whatever they might be.

My aim is to create a genuine, warm, trusting and non-judgemental relationship which enables you to find solutions to whatever difficulties you are experiencing. I provide a flexible approach and offer an empathic, down to earth experience, in a safe, confidential environment.

There are times when we are faced with difficult situations, leaving us feeling confused, anxious, angry, depressed, unable to move forward.

Counselling is a collaborative process between the client and counsellor, which helps to identify how our thoughts affects our behaviour, to recognise how we get stuck in destructive patterns of behaviour that are harmful in our relationships. It’s about making informed choices, and recognising our own strengths and the ability to find solutions by through working this.

I work with many different areas of counselling though have a specific interest in relationship counselling. I also work with general anxiety disorder, depression, feeling sad, anger management, social anxiety, panic disorder, low self esteem, family conflict and bereavement.

During our life time we will all have experienced many changes, things we don't expect, that lead us to question our core beliefs - these challenges may leave us feeling unable to cope, perhaps you may experience a loss of confidence in your ability to manage what you used to take in your stride. Through counselling we can work together to make sense of the issues that are affecting your life at this time.

Is stress affecting your daily life, do you find yourself getting angry? There are techniques you can learn to manage both! I work from home as an independent, integrated therapist, tailored to suit the individual needs of the client.

Please feel free to contact me for an informal chat by phone or email, where I will try to answer your questions.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
