Lewis Smythe PG Dip Counselling & Psychotherapy, MBACP.
Hello, thank you for taking the time to visit my page. I am a qualified Counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. I offer a warm, open-minded and accepting environment for you to talk through what is troubling you.
I understand and appreciate that deciding to undertake counselling can be a hard decision. I hope that by reading my profile it will help you to decide if counselling is right for you.
Counselling is sought for many reasons, not just a crisis. You may be experiencing feelings of anxiety, dissatisfaction, low mood, anger or isolation. You may just need some help at a difficult time. What I can offer you is the time and space to make sense of your thoughts and feelings. We do this together, confidentially, in an environment where you are valued, listened to and understood. Counselling can give you an opportunity to look at making positive changes in your life, explore your options and increase the self-awareness you have in order to better understand your thoughts and feelings.
What to expect from me:
The type of counselling that I offer is known as Relational Therapy. This means I aim to provide a relationship which allows you to work through what is troubling you without fear of judgement or criticism. My qualifications and experience allow me to draw upon Psychodynamic, Behavioral and Humanistic approaches; knowledge that I can share in order to help you take a positive step forward.
I aim to work together with you, side by side, with trust, empathy and respect to enable you to find a way forward with greater self-acceptance and self-compassion. In our sessions we will work with what you want to explore at a pace which feels comfortable to you.
I am able to work short-term with solution focused therapy and longer-term.
I work and abide by the ethical framework as set by the BACP. I have full indemnity insurance, enhanced DBS, receive ongoing supervision, and undertake continued professional development as part of my membership.
