Leslie Chapman UKCP registered Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist
01252 329036 / 07712 176180
I offer psychoanalytic therapy to individuals who are deeply troubled by some aspect of their lives. The aim of the therapy is to give my clients the opportunity to explore and gain a deeper understanding of the roots of their difficulties. I have extensive knowledge and experience of working with trauma, medically unexplained symptoms, and a range of other complex psychological problems.
My approach starts from the position that a person’s symptoms, however troublesome and discomforting, might actually be ‘saying’ something to them; something about the life they lead, their history, and their relationships with others. For example, a deep and enduring depression may be indicative of a serious loss or trauma that has its roots in early childhood.
I aim to offer all my clients a very special kind of space which allows them to explore and work through their suffering within a safe environment and in total confidence. Furthermore, there is no time limit and no expectations of what ‘should’ or ‘should not’ be spoken about.
I am a Full Clinical Member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), a Member of the Council for Psychoanalysis and Jungian Analysis (CPJA), and an Associate Member of the Centre for Freudian Analysis and Research (CFAR). I am bound by the codes of ethics of all these organisations.
