I am a fully qualified counsellor who believes that each person is unique and deserves a safe and confidential place to be heard and understood with no fear of interruptions, condemnation, or judgement. Counselling offers you a time to be who you are and express your inner voice.
My belief is that counselling is life-enhancing and empowering. It can even be fun! It offers you new ways to relate to yourself and to others. My aim is to help you develop personal insight, self-awareness, clarity, and perspective on your problems.
As a warm and caring person I passionately believe in the healing power of a genuine, supportive, compassionate counselling relationship. I believe having the opportunity to talk confidentially with someone can help you find solutions for the struggles in your life. This can lead to better emotional well-being in your everyday life.
I work in a friendly, down-to-earth way so that we can build a strong relationship and you feel safe to talk about and explore whatever is going on for you.
My private practice, is at my home. This makes it easy for me to provide my clients with a flexible, professional, quality counselling experience. This practice is based in a quiet and tranquil setting which is easy to access. I also offer home visits if that is where you would feel most comfortable.
Acknowledging that may you need counselling is an immense achievement in itself however contacting a counsellor can be daunting but once you have taken that step you may just find that it was one of the best things you have done and I would love to be your listening ear in this loud and chaotic world.
We all know that life can be very difficult at times. You may feel anxious, over-whelmed, worried, or just not right. Talking with me could help you in a different way than talking to a friend of family member. This is because you can be honest without feeling judged. I am here to listen to you and to support you in working things out for yourself.
I believe counselling is a process that empowers people to take back control of their lives by working through issues and problems that have caused them to lose their self-esteem and confidence in their own abilities. Counselling increases self-awareness and a sense of well-being, and is often the first step individuals take on their path to discovering a more positive life.
What to Expect?
After our first telephone conversation, if you think you would feel comfortable working with me, then we will meet for a consultation. This is often a relaxed session where you could tell me whatever you would like to about the basics about you and your life. It is also the time for you to see whether you'd like to continue your counselling with me. I am happy to answer any questions you may have about what counselling is and what you can expect to happen in our sessions. If you subsequently decide that counselling is for you, we would meet on a weekly basis for 1 hour, with regular reviews to check how you feel the process is going.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and worked in various organisations: including Mind and Christian Fellowship Ministries, working with difficulties including anxiety, bereavement, depression and low self-esteem amongst other things.

After living the majority of my life with low self-worth and questioning my abilities (physical, psychological, and spiritual) I found myself perplexed at the state of my feelings after a significant life event. After receiving counselling, the sense of relief I felt after being accepted for who I was and how I felt was profound. It was due to this experience that I began my counselling training. With this background, I feel I am able to offer clients a secure and accepting environment in which they can explore their own individual difficulties and concerns.
