About me

I am a Counsellor & Psychotherapist based in Colchester, Essex CO7. I am currently deliver counselling remotely using Zoom. I have many years working in the NHS and experience of working with people who come with a wide range of different conditions, such as low mood, depression and anxiety. This will impact you in many different ways, such as having low self-esteem and heightened self-criticism.  This may then manifest in perhaps relationship & family issues, or feeling stuck within a work situation, sadness, or difficulties with anger management. Very often these engrained patterns of belief may link to difficult past events and perhaps early relational experiences, past abuse, school bullying or bereavement.
Every experience and how it manifests is unique to each individual.

Alongside working in an NHS mental health service I have specific experience of working with people with breast cancer in the NHS and experience of working with parents and families who have experienced premature and traumatic births and neonatal care.

In a non-judgemental and safe environment, we work together to help you make sense of what is distressing you. We will have space to explore your difficulties to help process and heal experience, and to enable you to gain a better understanding of your emotional self. This will allow you to make important shifts in your life, so you feel more in control and empowered.

I offer long term, or time-limited counselling, according to your individual needs. I work with adults from 18 years.

I respect, value and engage with issues of equality and diversity.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
