I am a qualified Counsellor, Psychotherapist, Supervisor and Trainer.
For over 30 years I have been working in the field of emotional health, helping people feel more confident and more able to face the difficulties that life throws at us all.
I have worked extensively with adults, couples, families, young people and I work both individually and in groups. I have also been running workshops and training sessions for the past 15 years.
As an experienced psychotherapist I am able to work with any issues that effect your emotional well being and no issue is too small if it prevents you living the life you want to live.
The list below identifies the breadth of problems I have experienced of working with, however this is not exhaustive.
- panic attacks
- low self-esteem
- lack of assertiveness
- general unhappiness
- emotional eating issues of all descriptions
- stress related difficulties
- bereavement problems
- relationship difficulties
Training, qualifications & experience
Therapy: I am a qualified Counsellor and a United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) registered Psychotherapist for Adults, Children and Young People and have run a successful private counselling and psychotherapy practice for over 20 years.
I spent 18 years working as a Mental Health Nurse in the NHS with Adults, Families and Young People.
In 2017 I completed the 1st and 2nd Part of EMDR training: http://emdrassociation.org.uk/whatis-emdr/. Currently EMDR is the therapy of choice for treating trauma following traffic accidents / childhood trauma/ phobias and PTSD.
I am currently looking for people to join a weekly therapy group in Newark, on a Tuesday daytime, starting January 2018. If you would like to join the group, I would meet with you individually to discuss how a group may help you improve your confidence, communication skills and relationships both at home and at work. Please email me if you are interested in joining or would like further details.
Supervision: To continue my personal development in 2015 I gained a MSc in Professional Supervision. I currently have space for supervisee's and can provide specialist supervsion for any practitioner working with Adults in any setting.
I have extensive experience of therapeutic work with children, young people and those families affected by disordered eating if you require specialist supervision in these areas.
I am happy to supervise both trainee counsellors and qualified counsellors, therapists, nurses, social workers, vicars, healthcare workers or volunteers working within the mental health field.
If you are want to make the first step please contact me to discuss your therapeutic or supervisory needs.

My current fee is £60.00- £65.00 for 60 minute individual therapy.
For couples or families my fee is £70.00 per hour appointment.
My fee for Clinical Supervision is £60.00 per hour.
These fees reflect over 30 years experience in the field of psychological health. I also work hard each year to gain further experience and new qualifications to offer the best professional service I can.
However in exceptional circumstances I am willing to offer a reduced fee for example a trainee counsellor looking for long term therapy, so please do feel able to discuss this when you contact me.
When you are choosing a counsellor or therapist it can be confusing with all the different types of counselling on offer. I personally believe that is the relationship between you and your counsellor that will help you to heal.
Therefore I always suggest starting with a one off assessment session, where we can meet to discuss your current difficulties and make the decision to work together.
If this is something you would like to arrange please email on firstname.lastname@example.org or call 01636 611562 today.
