If you are considering counselling or therapy for yourself, you and your partner as a couple, or you have concerns about one of your children, the information on these pages could be useful to you.
Going to counselling is a positive way of taking care of yourself and rebuilding self-confidence and self esteem. It can lower your stress levels, help manage anxiety, overcome depression and resolve emotional difficulties. It can also improve relationships with family and friends.
In my 20 years of working as a counsellor and supervisor, I have encountered many of life's challenges. Whether it is specific events, such as affairs, life changing events such as birth, separation or bereavement, domestic violence/abuse, poor communication or just a general sense of unhappiness and uncertainty, we can work together to explore and make changes.
Below are some brief facts about my counselling service, which will help you decide if what I offer will suit you.
- Professional and ethical practice based on confidentiality & respect.
- Anti-discriminatory practice. My service is open to all,
irrespective of race, gender, faith, age, physical impairment or
- 20 years working as counsellor and supervisor and accredited member of

- Individual psychological therapy matched to your circumstances.
- Help with troubled relationships, either as a couple or an individual.
- Help with parenting.
- Individual work with young people/adolescents
- Help with dealing with panic attacks or stress.
How I can help
I work with couples and individuals (a Relate counsellor for many years) and adolescents (I have worked as a school counsellor for 7 years). I work with any kind of relationship, gay or straight, new or many decades together or an individual wanting to think about their relationship status. I also help couples with family issues, teenagers, in-laws, new babies etc. I have extensive experience of other cultures and my service is open to all, irrespective of race, faith, age, physical impairment or sexual orientation.
What to expect
In our sessions my aim is initially to make you feel safe and heard and then to explore and understand what you are experiencing, so that you will feel less overwhelmed by your feelings and more able to make positive choices. I am able to be reasonably flexible with appointment times as clients often have important commitments in their lives.
I work using a number of theoretical approaches including psychodynamic (exploring the past to understand how it influences the present), attachment (patterns of relating to a significant other/s), or systemic (interactions within those relationships). In addition, I think I bring qualities of warmth, compassion and straightforwardness (and sometimes humour) to a process which can feel rather overwhelming and anxiety-provoking.
Where I work from
I am based in Finchley where I have a quiet and confidential consulting room. I also work in Finsbury Park N7 near to both Finsbury Park and Arsenal tube stations and Finsbury Park overground.
