I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with eight years experience of working both within the NHS and private practice, providing psychological therapy to enable people to overcome emotional difficulties so they can start living the life they desire.
How Therapy Can Help You
There are many reasons why people seek the support of a therapist. You may have specific problems such as depression, anxiety or excessive worry that you want to resolve. You might feel stressed and burnt out at work or disappointed that you’re not achieving the goals you set for yourself. You could be struggling with difficult and uncomfortable emotions like anger, resentment, jealousy or shame. You may be stuck in unhappy and unfulfilling relationships that you want to change. You could be struggling to adjust to parenthood. You may feel stuck and unsure how to move forwards.
Talking to someone outside of friends and family about your problems can be a very helpful experience. It can enable you to better understand the struggles you face and think about possible solutions. So whatever troubles you’re going through, I can work with you to help you find a way forward.
Training, qualifications & experience
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
I am trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) which has a well established evidence base in the treatment of a range of mood disorders including anxiety, stress and depression. CBT is a short-term, focussed therapy that helps people identify patterns of thinking and ways of behaving that maintain emotional difficulties.
I am also a qualified Schema Therapist, accredited by the International Society of Schema Therapy. Schema Therapy draws on a range of theoretical models to help those suffering with complex and often long-standing issues including relationship problems, chronic depression, anger and personality difficulties.
I have a special interest in working with those suffering with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). PTSD develops after very stressful, distressing or traumatic events. It is normal to experience stress after such events but these symptoms usually subside after a few weeks. If they persist, trauma-focussed therapy such as CBT, Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR) or Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET) are recommended. I have specialist training in all the above mentioned therapies and can tailor treatment to meet your individual needs.

Your first appointment will be an assessment. This is your opportunity to tell me what is bringing you to therapy and how you hope I might be able to help you. I will ask you questions not only about your current difficulties and goals for therapy but also about your earlier experiences, this is so I can gain a better understanding of you and your journey through life. Your assessment is also a chance for you to get a feel for whether you could work with me as the relationship you develop with your therapist is incredibly important.
Assessments are £95
What to expect in your first therapy session
If we agree to work together, then we will discuss what to expect; the length of therapy depends on a number of factors including what type of therapy you want, your goals, how long you have been struggling with your difficulties, how much commitment you give to the sessions as well as completion of tasks given to you to work on between sessions. Progress towards your goals will be regularly monitored to ensure that the sessions are proving beneficial for you.
Therapy sessions are usually on a weekly basis, each session is 50 minutes long and cost £90.
