About me

With a 26 year career as a mental health nurse, and 11 years as a qualified CBT therapist, I work closely with people who suffer from mental, emotional or psychological health issues, including:

- Depression  - General anxiety disorders
- Social anxiety  - Health anxiety
- PTSD   - Bereavement
- Phobias  - OCD
- Panic disorder - Addictions
- Post natal depression - Relationship difficulties

These issues can be extremely debilitating and take over our lives if we let them. CBT is proven to help people address their fears, break negative thought patterns and challenge themselves. I decided to train as a CBT therapist as it has overwhelmingly the largest scientifically proven evidence base to support its validity in treating common mental health disorders, in comparison with other counselling styles/therapies. CBT can also help people to stop smoking, manage chronic pain and help with symptoms related to more severe mental health disorders like Bi Polar Affective Disorder and Schizophrenia.

Typically people who receive CBT from my service have between 4 - 12 sessions lasting an hour usually on a weekly basis. At the end of the therapy you will have the skills, strategies and techniques to become your own therapist.

Throughout our lives, potentially anyone can have periods whereby they are finding life hard to cope with. Life has a tendency to not always go to plan whether this is through losing a job, loved one or suffering ill health. Finding the right person to confide in and share your story with is a huge part of the healing process and I am passionate about working with individuals to help them move forward with their lives and would feel privileged to do so. I offer a confidential, friendly service with no waiting lists.

Working within mental health for 18 years has given me a broad breadth of experience within many different environments and disorders and I have delivered psychological interventions to help clients, their families or partners to understand their difficulties and to assist the process of making positive changes throughout.

My work is regulated by the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies and I can be found on www.babcp.com find a therapist section. The BABCP only allows CBT therapists who have met stringently high standards of knowledge and skills within the delivery of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to become fully accredited members. Having full accreditation enables me through my knowledge and experience to apply this Gold Standard to a vast variety of mental health issues and enables me to deliver outstanding results.
