I am an experienced art therapist working with a range of clients, offering them a different and creative way in which to communicate and express their thoughts and feelings – combining talking therapy with art making. The process of art making can act as a bridge between the conscious and the unconscious mind. This enables my clients to explore aspects of themselves that they may otherwise not yet have discovered. I guide and hold the process through the careful, empathic relationship I build with each of my clients. I strongly believe that this strong therapeutic relationship lies at the centre of the work.
I work with clients, both adults and children, suffering with a wide range of issues including
- eating disorders
- relationship problems
- self harm
- anger management
I work with each of my clients at a pace dictated by them, looking at difficult issues and feelings both past and present in order to help them to explore and reach a better understanding of their current circumstances.
Art Therapy is a creative process which marries psychotherapy and art-making to promote a fuller sense of self and individual growth. Art Therapy can be used for a wide range of clients including both children and adults for a variety of issues including depression, self-esteem, anxiety, feeling stuck and general struggles many of us face at some point in our lives. It is particularly useful for those clients wishing to find an alternative, creative approach in which to explore these issues.
The art-making process itself can serve as a tangible outlet for difficult feelings and the non-verbal nature of the therapy can offer a deeper self-awareness and self-understanding. Artistic skills are not necessary to engage in art therapy – the purpose is to express emotions creatively and it is often more about the creative process than the final product.
