Profile

As a practitioner I believe strongly in working collaboratively with my clients, both individuals and couples, and so at the assessment stage in the first appointment we will plan together how we will work. This can be either short term work or longer where appropriate and agreed with the client.

I integrate the person centred approach with technique based approaches such as Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). I also use hypnotherapy where appropriate and have a special interest in dysfunctional breathing and overbreathing.

I also undertake clinical supervision with other counsellors.

I can also undertake to deliver bespoke training around the issues of stress, stress management, trauma in workplace environments for employers or staff associations.

Training, Qualifications & Experience

I am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist and am registered with Health Professions Council, I am also an accredited counsellor (MBACP Accred), and UKCP registered I have qualifications in the person centred approach, cognitive behavioral therapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation (EMDR), hypnotherapy and clinical supervision. I am an integrative practitioner.

I have 22 years experience of workplace counselling within the Police Service and have been the manager of a busy counselling service providing counselling for all issues, Trauma and PTSD, Depression and Anxiety, Couples work, work related stress, grievance and discilpinary issues, personal ill health and family issues, and I am also qualified in Critical Incident Management, and Debriefing.
