My approach to therapy is kind, caring compassionate, challenging (to enhance growth), supportive open hearted, added with humor and gentleness, attending to your needs from moment to moment in a non judgement way.
Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile. My name is Kenneth Clifford I am a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist based in Portsmouth and Southsea. I abide by the regulation of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy.
I often see potential therapy clients for an initial 30 minute free of charge session which allows us to get to know each other and to see if you feel comfortable in opening up to me about your present situation. Our first session is an opportunity to share any issues that are causing you distress, ask questions and to get a feel of the way I work and my approach. I can also gain a better understanding of what you are wanting from therapy. You can then make an informed decision as to whether you feel comfortable working with me and I can assess whether my therapy is appropriate for you.
I work with a number of issues, such as
My experience is not limited to these issues and is very broad in my psychological understanding.
I specialise in working with people who struggle with Anxiety. Anxiety is different for everybody and we all react differently to all kinds of situations. So it is important that you become aware of your thoughts, feelings, sensations and reactions to your life situations. This will allow you to have a better understanding in dealing with your anxiety. The more aware we become of our triggers the sooner we can deal with these feelings and centre ourselves in a more grounded place. Your patterns of functioning can be deeply ingrained in you which you may or may not be aware that you are avoiding situations to keep your anxiety at bay. Often anxiety is,
1, Worries about the future.
2, Ruminations about the past.
3, Thoughts about being in danger.
4, Critical thoughts about self.
Do you have any of these body sensations, Rapid heart rate, dizziness lightheadedness, sweating, shortness of breath, blushing, trembling or shaky feelings, dry mouth, stomach distress, tension or soreness in the neck, shoulders, or any other muscles, headaches, fatigue, irritability and other sensations. You maybe experiencing Anger, sadness, surprise, disgust, shame as well as other emotions.

Many people are busy with jobs around the world and are away from home a lot. Most of my skype clients are in the corporate world managing very intense jobs with much responsibility. Skype works very well and most people are surprised as to how effective the therapy can be.

MY WORKING WEEK
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
My words, however many, will never truly express how much you have touched my life. I have thought a lot about my last session with you today and how I will feel. already trying to analyse something that has yet to happen.
I want to thank you for sharing part of my life's journey and offering counsel and support to me throughout.
This will be a hard good bye and in many ways I have you to thank for that because you have helped me feel again. You have helped me appreciate being able to physically feel emotions instead of running away from it.
You saw my sad eyes and the fact that I was discouraged and I had lost sight of it all. You have helped me find the darkness inside me which was making me feel small.
You saw my true colour's and now hopefully they will shine through. I wont be afraid to let them show because I am beautiful, like a rainbow.
I have learnt so much from you Ken and I will be forever thankful that you came into my life when you did. This good bye is so hard but testimony to your abilities to counsel. To the first person who truly listened to me a hundred thank you's. (S) 2012
