Kay Kirby - MBACP (Adv.dip. Therapeutic counselling)
Qualified counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP)
I offer PERSON-CENTRED COUNSELLING for a wide range of issues and specialist ANGER MANAGEMENT counselling to meet individual needs.
I work from a PERSON-CENTRED background and offer counselling for depression, anxiety, abuse, trauma and relationship difficulties to name just a few of the difficult subjects life can sometimes throw at us.
I offer a warm, friendly and non-judgemental atmosphere where issues can be explored in confidence.
Counselling sessions are usually on a weekly basis and last for up to 60 minutes. I have day time, evening and weekend appointments available For both short and long term therapy.
Specialist Anger Management Counselling
I offer a blended approach to anger management. I believe we all get angry from time to time, after all anger is a natural emotion, it is a red flag informing us that something needs our attention.
Being a person centred therapist at heart my work has an empathic therapeutic base with educational elements promoting insight and awareness.
My aim is to explore anger issues with you, looking at why we get angry (even if you do not know why you get angry), the effects of this anger, the types of anger we use, triggers to anger and what effect our anger has on our lives. Allowing you to understand why you feel this way, and make the necessary changes in your life so anger can be used in a positive and empowering way.
Anger can be turned outwards, vented at others or objects; or it can be turned inwards causing crippling depression. Whatever way you experience anger I am here to listen, and should you wish, I can offer management tools and techniques to help change negative patterns and gain insight in to this misunderstood emotion.
Currently I run a small private practice and work as a consultant and team leader for a North West charity that offers anger management.
I offer group training in anger awareness to counsellors, professional bodies and other organisations.
