Kay Edwards MBACP
I am a qualified counsellor based in North London and offer open-ended therapy tailored to suit you. Having undertaken an integrative training in psychodynamic & humanistic counselling, I am able to work with an approach that makes sense to you and is compatible with your values. However, I firmly believe that change comes from within and models and techniques can only be used as a guide in helping us to understand our inner worlds. Working in relationship together I will encourage you to explore issues, concerns and difficult feelings in a safe, non-judgemental space. In a way, the therapy space can be experienced as a microcosm of the outside world and used to understand how we are in the world and whether that feels ok for us or not. Further, to explore how we might like to be and how that would feel. For me, it is the relational aspect that gets to the heart of the matter.
I have worked with a wide range of people dealing with many different issues from anxiety, depression and relationships to bereavement, trauma and adoption. Although the presenting issues and symptoms may be similar, each individual is unique and it is through working in relationship that awareness, change and resolution is made possible.
Making the decision to come to therapy is not always an easy one and demonstrates a willingness and desire for change. In return, my commitment is to support and facilitate you on this journey to the best of my ability.
I am BACP registered and abide by their ethical framework. There is no charge for the initial appointment which is an opportunity for us to meet each other and discuss any concerns or questions you may have.
