About me

Sometimes life can seem a struggle and we are faced with overwhelming feelings we can't always explain or understand. These feelings often lead to anxiety, depression and low mood and impact on our day to day lives and relationships. You may feel that you don't want a friend or family member's opinion, instead preferring to talk to someone impartial who will listen without opinion and help you work through those uncomfortable or distressing feelings.

I am a British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) fully qualified integrative counsellor and supervisor of counsellors. I work with clients integrating CBT, Pyschodynamic and person centred theories where necessary to help you gain a better understanding of your thought processes and feelings. I believe we are all unique and I aim to provide a confidential, non-judgmental space for you to explore difficult or distressing feelings and help you achieve your true potential so you can be the best version of you that you can be.

I have experience working in the voluntary sector, at a GP practice, Employee Assistant Programmes (EAP's) and in the corporate sector running group communication sessions and work based counselling. I am also a recommended counsellor for the Police Firearms Officer’s Association. I work with individuals from a wide variety of different cultures and backgrounds and my experience includes anxiety, relationship issues, sexuality, grief, loss, childhood sexual abuse, low self-esteem and confidence issues among other things. I am also currently writing an online course on anxiety and depression.

I understand it can be difficult to talk about such issues for the first time but please feel free to call me for a confidential, no obligation discussion of your requirements.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
