About me

I believe that good mental health is the key to a happy and fulfilled life, and this can be accomplished when we take time to understand ourselves. Honouring our individuality and learning to appreciate the things that make us human can be hard at times. I want to help find the joy within ourselves - to get in touch with who really are and want to be, to make sense of the facets of self that so often get buried within the stress and strain of 21st century life.

We can find ourselves coming for counselling at many different points in our lives, for many different reasons. For some of us it feels easy and natural, for some it can seem daunting. My aim is to take the fear away and make the therapeutic process feel comfortable, interesting, informative and positive. I cannot promise that it will always be fun, but I hope to make it run as smoothly as possible - and I hope for our time to always be useful to you.

I have experience of working in different therapeutic settings with varying client bases. Some of the issues and conditions I have helped people deal with are; relationship issues, fertility, sexuality, loss and grief, trauma, post traumatic stress disorder, depression, loneliness and isolation, bipolar, chronic illness, anxiety, abandonment, eating disorders, addictions, abuse (of many types; physical, emotional, neglect, insitutional, financial, sexual, to name a few), and many other challenges besides.

With this in mind, I usually work from a humanistic core (with a strong psychodynamic slant) and will often include CBT exercises, Solution Focused Brief Therapy techniques, Mindfulness meditations, and other processes which I feel will be suitable for you and help you build your self awareness and confidence - all the while, being intuitive to how comfortable and safe you feel as we progress together.
