Thank you for looking at my profile.
Are you experiencing Sexual problems, Relationship issues, or feel you have a Sex Addiction? Many be I can help.
At some point in life you may experience trauma, depression, anxiety, bereavement or relationship and sexual problems. Most of the time you are able to seek comfort and support from family and friends. However, you may need to seek help from a Counsellor, such as myself, who can be objective, unbiased, and who is experienced in working professionally with her clients.
The fact that you are reading this means you have made the biggest step in recognising you would like support.
Finding the right Counsellor is another important step. One of the biggest problems you may well encounter is finding the right therapist for you.
It is important that you feel comfortable with your counsellor, so to help you through this process, I offer you a 15-minute consultation where you can ask me question, enabling you to establish whether or not you feel I am able to help you.
I started my counselling career whilst bringing up my own four children. I am constantly developing and expanding my professional skills. I am a qualified Relate counsellor and work with couples, individuals, young adults and children. My degree in Psychosexual Therapy (Pedi) enables me to successfully work with clients with sexual dysfunction including LGBT, and Sexual addiction.
I adopt an integrative approach so that I can choose the most appropriate therapies for my client. For example, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Techniques (CBT) to help overcome negative thoughts, feelings and behaviors and Psychodynamic Therapy to explore repressed emotions and experiences from your past. My client-centered approach means that I can offer a therapy strategy, which is tailor-made to the individual.
Relationship counselling may take place with a partner, family member and friend or work colleague. I have extensive experience helping clients with relationship and communication problems. I am able to provide the necessary skills and strategies so that conflict can be managed in a healthy and constructive manner. Couples that come to see me are often experiencing problems because they have lost that spark in their relationship and need help to rediscover and create the emotional and physical desire that initially attracted them to each other.
I welcome Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transsexual and Intersexual clients and have extensive experience working in this field. I focus on the whole person, and not just their sexual orientation or gender identity.
SEXUAL PROBLEMS / SEX ADDICITON
Within my practice, I help couples overcome sexual dysfunction for example, Vaginismus, Dyspareunia and Anorgasmia (inability to have an orgasm). The most common dysfunction I am presented with is lack of desire or loss of libido. This can be devastating to either or ultimately both partners. I utilize Cognitive Behaviour Therapy in order to provide my clients with a bespoke treatment programme. This includes exercises, which are carried out in the privacy of the client’s home.
Sex addiction …This is a term that describes any pattern of out of control sexual behaviour that causes problems in someone’s life, a pattern of behaviour that cannot be stopped, or does not reliably stay stopped…. any behaviour can be addictive, it’s not the behaviour itself that is the problem but the relationship to the behaviour. When we become dependent on something and can’t stop doing it, in spite of all the problems it’s causing in our lives, we’re addicted.
This is a very secret addiction. You can access for example porn for hours on end and yet there would be no physical side effects as with say alcohol, so the secrecy of the addiction is easy to maintain. Massive of shame surrounds this addiction which then drives the addict further down the block hole.
One in twenty are addicted to sex, 30% are women! .
If any of this sounds familiar to you in any way contact me and we will work together to understand the reason for the addiction and learn to break the chain of behaviour, removing the shame, and allowing you to be the person you want to be.
I am a trained telephone counsellor. Telephone counselling can be advantageous for clients who are unable to leave the house. It is also useful for one off sessions whereby a client may have hit crisis point and needs some help instantly.
Clients can access telephone counselling during work time, in lunch breaks and is particularly suitable if they are unable to travel to my practice. Despite not being a face to face experience, it has proved to be very successful. In fact, some clients prefer it.
In this day and age, talking online using Skype or Facetime (Webcam) can also provide an excellent method to access counselling. Just as with telephone counselling, the client does not need to leave the home to speak with me. I can also set up conference calls to link partners who may not be in the same locality. This can be effective in couples counselling.
If you and your partner live in different places webcam counselling is an easy way for you both to take part in a session from separate locations. A new and convenient way to talk to a counsellor — you choose when and where to have counselling. No baby sitters, no travelling (saving time and money), all in the comfort of your own home.
YOUNG PERSONS COUNSELLING
As a qualified Relate Counsellor, I am uniquely placed to assist children and young adults who are experiencing problems. Common issues that I help with are self-harming, separation and divorce, exam stress, sexual abuse, depression and loss of a loved one.
I work hard to build a trusting relationship with my younger clients through therapies such as sand play, art therapy and play therapy.
BACP Code of Ethics.
I adhere to the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) code of ethics and their principles of good practice. Confidentiality and professionalism combine to ensure an ethical approach and quality of service is provided. I am also a member of The College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists (COSRT) and I adhere to the strict code of ethics and guidelines set out by CORST.
WHAT TO EXPEXT
Each session is an hour long. I can offer you a safe place to explore the issues that you as an individual or as a couple are experiencing. Together we will unpick and explore your problems so that you become empowered to make any necessary changes and achieve your goals. I believe in client-led counselling and will endeavour to work with whatever you bring to the session. I am not a miracle worker but I will work hard to get you where you want to be.
I work from a specially set up therapy room in my own home on the border of South Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire. I am 20 minutes from Sheffield and just of the A1. I offer a private and comfortable environment, with wheel chair access along with free parking.
I suggest an initial session to discuss and explore your problems and also to see if we are happy to continue working together. I ask that if clients need to cancel that they give a minimum of 48 hours notice. Payment at the end of a session can be either cash, cheque or bank transfer. Please note that I offer reduced rates for students, unemployed and mature clients.
I look forward to your enquiry.
