Looking for therapeutic support and guidance with difficulties you are facing? Counselling can assist you to explore what is going on for you in new ways, and to work towards positive changes you want to see.
I think therapy is most effective when we work together. You bring your detailed knowledge of yourself and your situation, your sense of what is right for you, and your own unique strengths and resources (whether or not you are aware of them!). I bring professional knowledge and expertise which I will input where you find it useful.
With a team approach to the issues you want to work on, I will never tell you what to think or do; as well as truly listening to you, I will be pro-actively there for you to help you reach your own insights and resolutions.
As an integrative counsellor, I am qualified in a variety of approaches which means we can work together in a way which meets your needs. Perhaps you are looking for a non-judgemental space in which to express yourself freely, work through feelings and make sense of yourself and your life. Or perhaps you would benefit from working on specific goals with contructive suggestions for a solution-focused approach. I believe people benefit most from working in a way that suits them.
I work with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy on request. CBT is a popular technique which is evidence based for anxiety and mild to moderate depression. Its structured approach can help clarify the process of change and give clear markers for your progression. I believe CBT is most effective in sessions which include space for you to speak freely about your experiences, and in a therapeutic relationship where you are valued and understood.
At first we will arrange an initial session to talk about what your needs are and how we might work together on these. If this goes well for you and you feel we are a good 'fit' we can arrange either a set number of sessions, or to work open-endedly for now.
