About me

I am a fully qualified, registered and experienced Person-Centred Counsellor. I believe the main factor in successful counselling is the quality of the therapeutic relationship. Creating an environment where you feel safe and able to talk openly without fear of judgement is my aim and will underpin our work together.

Our first contact would be a brief chat over the phone, this will give you more of an idea of whether you would like to work with me. In our first counselling session, we would spend a few minutes going over the counselling agreement. This is in place to outline the boundaries of the relationship and to give you more of an idea of what to expect. We would discuss mainly confidentiality and ethical practise. The agreement is in place to keep us both safe and to ensure you are fully informed. It would then be over to you to perhaps give an overview of your current situation or whatever you need to talk about.

I use a lot of Mindfulness in my practice, this is completely optional. Mindfulness has shown to help with reducing stress, anxiety and preventing relapse into depression, to name a few. Personally, I use mindfulness throughout the day, it helps me focus and concentrate more; I find it also prevents over-thinking.

I have worked with not-for-profit organisations providing counselling for adults. I have substantial experience working with substance mis-use; I have also volunteered for a carers centre, working with bereavement and loss. My background employment was as a support worker, giving me hands on experience working with mental health, autism and learning difficulties.

I am a member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their guidance for good practice and ethical framework. I am committed to continuing professional development, ensuring I continue to develop my skills and knowledge base to provide the best service I can.
