About me

I am an approachable and practical counsellor with a wide range of experience in different settings and with different issues I would be happy for you to get in touch to discuss what is troubling you at the moment. Your problems may seem small or they may feel overwhelming but  if they are an issue to you then they are worth talking about.

I have particular experience in bereavement and loss, relationships issues, problems at work and people at a crossroads in their life, uncertainty and anxiety. I can also offer coaching and have worked in a number of business settings.

I also have a strong interest in problems arising from birth and parenting, including when things don’t go to plan (eg the death of a child, difficulties with pregnancy, premature birth, baby loss or miscarriage) and difficult family relationships.

I offer face to face, online and blended counselling. To ensure I am competent to work online I have completed substantive training and am a senior professional member of ACTO

I see private clients www.cambridgecounsellingpractice.co.uk, and also work as a supervisor for counsellors and other people working in a supportive role

I work with individuals and couples and one-off sessions are sometimes available with me. I am happy to work with young people over the age of 18.

Training, qualifications & experience

My core training is in individual psychology and Adlerian counselling. This is a practical, integrative and creative therapeutic approach which is co-operative, supportive and empathetic. I use a range of techniques which are tailored to suit the needs of each individual client. Since then I have undertaken a lot of training courses and work with elements of CBT and use an integrative approach designed to meet your needs as we are all different.

I can work with individuals or couples.

In terms of qualifications, I am a qualified counsellor, a fully Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I have an ASIIP Diploma in Adlerian Counselling, Advanced Theory Certificate in Counselling and a diploma in Supervision (CST)

I have completed the CRUSE Bereavement Care training, training with BLISS and training in Solutions Focused Brief Therapy, and a certificate in Couples Counselling as well as regularly attending professional development courses.

I also have a diploma in online counselling and online supervision. which is recognised by ACTO and the BACP. I have also completed a range of courses in working online

I am  a qualified supervisor offering supervision to other counsellors my supervision training is integrative/Adlerian.  (Cambridge supervision training)

As an accredited counsellor and psychotherapist with the BACP I am bound by BACP’s Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy and subject to the BACP Professional Conduct Procedure.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
