I get the shadow ...
Hello and welcome to this page- I imagine it must have been quite a journey to get to this point - so I would just like to welcome you before I say anything about me.
The session is about you, the focus is on you, but sometimes its hard to know what you mean, or how to say what you feel. My particular skill is in getting that and getting you to know what it is you feel and how to be able to articulate it; sometimes for the first time to yourself, and then maybe if you need to, to someone else.
I am an experienced and qualified Counsellor with nearly 10 years of individual 1:1 counselling practice. I work with both men and women and I currently work in a woman's centre, in private practice and on a national counselling helpline.
I was previously a health professional( physiotherapist) both within the NHs and in the private sector for 25 years plus.
I have managed groups around self awareness and well-being in Halifax and I work with individual Counselling clients in Hebden Bridge and in Halifax town centre.
I work with integrity, in a very open and honest way with whatever issues you would like to bring.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a qualified, registered Counsellor and member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists).
As well as my health professional skills, I am a qualified Acupuncturist and Aromatherapist and have post degree level qualifications in creative writing and drama- I bring all, none or some of these skills into my practice according to my clients comfort levels. My counsellor training is integrative and includes TA, Person centred, Gestalt, Psychosynthesis and some CBT- again these approaches are used and discarded according to client need and preference.
I have set up and delivered Counselling services in 5 Sure Start Centres in Huddersfield and I ran my own practice in Rochdale, whilst working for Leeds Counselling.I have worked in an IAPT service with Insight therapies in Calderdale which provides structured short term counselling (up to 6 sessions)and I have worked long term with clients- up to 2 years doing delicate explorative work, both within organisations and in private practice. I have worked at the Womancentre halifax for 9 years.
My experience is very broad but I regard myself as most practiced at working with trauma and abuse including childhood, adult and domestic and sexual abuse and in working with clients who have, or are being bereaved.I have also worked extensively with relationship issues and on self awareness and low self esteem.
