Profile
Hello, my name is Kathryn. I believe that life sometimes presents us with things that can be difficult to handle and at these times it can be good to talk to someone who isn't involved in our day to day world.
I will give you the time and space to tell your story, to listen and really hear what you are feeling and experiencing. Sometimes things just don't feel right and at other times you know what's causing distress, in either case counselling allows you the chance to review where you are at, what works and what doesn't work for you. You are the person who knows you best and together we can explore what to do next.
I work with people who have experienced loss, whether through bereavement, relocation, the ending of a relationship or even a relationship unknown in the case of childhood adoptions. Loss takes many forms and affects every part of our world in ways we might not recognise such as a low self-esteem, loss of confidence and trust in ourselves, anger and aggression, tearfulness, forgetfulness and muddled thinking. The feeling of being in a fog, distant from those around us.
Depression can affect us all at any time in our lives, often when to others our lives appear good and should be full of joy we can experience it as something different, when feeling the pleasure of something is beyond us. Depression can range from feeling a bit low, through to believing that life is too painful to continue with. Please call me if this is you right now, I will hear you.
I'm approachable, down to earth and warm. I'm a real person and have a sense of humour, as well as a passion for counselling.........from personal experience I know it really can help.
Mental Health is something we take for granted until something happens to shake it a little. When this happens it isn't something to hide from and talking about how it actually feels for you, in the hear and now might help.
I don't believe that people are broken and need fixing, I don't judge. Together we can work at your pace, based on what you are comfortable sharing with me.
It is important to find the right person to work with and this might take a little bit of time. For this reason I don't charge for our first session which is just 30 minutes long, time to simply meet and talk about what happens next.

Further Information
Everyone should have access to counselling and problems don't wait until we can afford them, so I offer a limited number of low cost appointments to those who need them.
I also offer reduced fee sessions to trainee counsellors appreciating the significant costs (both financial and emotional) that the training itself asks of a student.
I work from home in a quiet setting that is confidential and safe, with plenty of parking. I'm close to Tewkesbury, Gloucester, Malvern and Cheltenham and being just 10 minutes from Junction 9 of the M5 and the same from Junction 1 of the M50 I'm accessible from further afield. I offer daytime, evening and weekend sessions and will try to be flexible where I can be.
