About me

Many people’s lives can go through ups and downs. I am proud to provide a comfortable and private space to help you explore anything that may be affecting your life, and work on ways to make you feel better.

As a counsellor, I offer a 1-1 confidential, warm and non-judgmental service. One that offers a safe space to explore your thoughts and feelings and help you to find a way to therapeutically deal with these and move forward. I understand how difficult it is to take the first step and make the initial contact so please feel reassured that I work in an empathetic and respectful manner, taking sessions at your own pace.

Our first session is an opportunity to discuss the issues that you are facing and to get a general sense of how we could work together. We can look to identify what would be of particular therapeutic benefit for you and then see how we can include this in our sessions.

It’s not unusual for people to worry about whether there is a particular way that a counselling session can go or what is supposed to be talked about. Please rest assured that there is no right or wrong answer. If it’s something bothering you, however big or small, then it’s worth bringing it to the sessions. We will work through the subject together with unconditional respect and without judgement, which will all help the healing process to begin.

I use an integrative model, using both Person Centered Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral therapy, which may be adapted to suit your individual situation/nature.

I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and therefore adhere to a professional code of ethics and practice. I work within the BACP ethical framework and regularly attend continuous professional development training in various subjects.

I hold a Public Liability Insurance certificate and have a current Enhanced Certificate with the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.
