The first step is the hardest on your journey to a brighter future - picking up the phone. I am able to offer a free initial telephone consultation, often the same day. You can call, email or text and I will get in touch to arrange a time for us to talk. I usually start by asking you about your worries and concerns, be that anxiety, panic attacks, depression, stress, anger or just a general sense that something isn't right. I am there to help you come to an understanding about what might help. We would discuss how many sessions it might take to get you to where you want to be (usually 8-12 but sometimes more). I am able to offer weekend and evening appointments so that you can fit therapy around your usual commitments. I can also offer therapy over Skype or telephone if this would be more manageable. Most clients worry that what they are experiencing is in some way unusual or not normal. However, as an experienced therapist I will help you to understand how many other people suffer from the same symptoms and how for the majority of people - therapy can be the key to getting a sense of control over the problem.
I am a HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist with over 15 years NHS experience. In the NHS I treat a wide range of difficulties and supervise a small team of therapists. I am trained in using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for anxiety, depression, stress and many other problems. I have interests in Schema Focused Therapy, mindfulness based approaches and strengths based CBT. I use approaches as recommended by the National Institute of Clinical Excellence and my clients can be assured that the therapy chosen will be the best fit for their particular concern.
I have additional specialist skills in working with families around parenting. I use an approach called Positive Behaviour Support to reduce difficult or challenging behaviours using positive strategies.
I am able to adapt therapies for those who may have learning difficulties, learning disabilities or autism. I am trained in the diagnosis of autism.
I enjoy the journey of supporting clients to reach their personal goals.
