About me

I aim to offer a safe, comfortable, non judgmental space which can facilitate the opportunity to explore thoughts and feelings around what ever you choose to bring to your therapy sessions. When this environment is right, it can give you a sense of being heard and a feeling of empathy and understanding. The environment I provide offers a safe and confidential place to talk freely. I offer a free 30 minute telephone consultation, this free consultation gives an opportunity for you to have an idea what to expect from me as your therapist. You may of experienced counselling before, so this consultation offers an insight into how I work as a therapist and whether we both feel we can work together and establish what issues you feel you want to bring to your sessions.

Working with a counsellor can enable you to resolve possible internal conflicts that prevent you from being what you may understand as your real self/ or the feeling of something missing in your life. It can also help to regain a deeper understanding of yourself which in-turn should help with your present or future relationships. It may also help in identifying old patterns of behaviour or habitual thoughts and emotions. It can help promote choices and options you thought you didn't have. It can enable you to let go of negative thoughts so that you can move forward in your life and make changes where you feel would be most helpful.

Counselling is a truly insightful process that can benefit one human beings life as long as they are ready to go on a personal journey.

So your ready for counselling, what can you expect?

I will provide an environment that is tailored to you and your individual needs. Depending on what you choose to bring to each session will depend on what approaches I feel will enable you to get the answers you need.

I offer an integrative therapeutic approach which enables me to work with two main approaches;

Person centred: working with the here and now life events.

Psychodynamic: working with personal life experiences from the past which are present in the unconscious process and evident in the present clients way of being and life experiences.

I aim to work towards a therapeutic relationship that provides an environment that promotes autonomy, respect, trustworthiness, together with an ethical and reflective approach to the work done together.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
