About me

Hi my name is Karen I work with individuals on a one-to-one basis.  I mainly do short-term (6-8 weeks) to mid-term therapy, which is by nature more focused on a particular issue that needs to be addressed. We can talk about what you want to achieve at the beginning and then we can work together to decide how we can achieve that together.  I have a private therapy room in Hook, where I am able to offer my clients the confidential space that is so important for Counselling to work well.

I have gained experience working at various organisations as well, such as Launchpad, Andover Crisis and Support Centre and St Michaels Hospice.  I am able to offer therapy for a variety of presenting issues particularly :-

  • Anxiety
  • Generalised anxiety disorder
  • Relationship issues (with individuals, but not with Couples)
  • Depression
  • Panic disorder
  • Bipolar/Manic Depression
  • Stress
  • Loss
  • Bereavement
  • Work related issues
  • Trauma
  • Self-esteem
  • Sexual Abuse/Rape

I have nine years of experience.  I qualified in 2011 after making a career change.  I have worked with a variety issues now.  I can offer you a non-judgemental place to talk. In my view, it should always be your choice to come for Counselling.  I also provide Online therapy via Video Skype for those who prefer it. Please feel free to contact me.  I am based near the centre of Hook in Hampshire and I am within walking distance of the train station.

I have appointments available from 1pm up until 5pm throughout the week at the moment.

'Counselling is a way of helping people through talking and listening.  The client is encouraged to express their feelings and thoughts about their problems so they can understand themselves and their behaviour better and therefore improve ways of coping.'

The British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Choosing the right counsellor and psychotherapist can seem like a daunting task. Research evidence indicates that the most important factor in ensuring the best outcome for a client is the quality of the therapeutic relationship with the Counsellor and feeling as though they have connected with him or her.  I know from my own experience as a client that the quality of the relationship I have with my therapist is what enables me to do the work I need to do. So, I cannot stress enough how important it is that you feel you are able to trust your Counsellor and to feel safe enough to share things that you may never have talked about before.

I understand that you may not know exactly what you need, you may need help with that.  The only thing you may be certain of, is that you want things to change.
