About me

Are you experiencing:

  • & "WHAT IF.." moments?

If this is stopping you:

  • living your life to the full
  • enjoying your career & relationships,
  • OR creating depression, a feeling of isolation & thoughts of not wanting to be here

then it's time to introduce better thinking habits, strategies & solutions to re-ignite your vitality.

The good news is STRESS, ANXIETY, WORRRY & DEPRESSION... are higly treatable with CBT.

Having experienced depression in my mid 20s I know the dark thoughts and places it can take you ...and I survived to fight another day.  So when I trained to be a Counsellor /CBT Therapist I wanted to specialise in treating this debilitating and potentially life threatening illness.

CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) strategies, reduce these uncomfortable symptoms and help you discover new daily habits that maintain your emotional and mental well-being.

During our weekly hourly sessions I blend elements of :

  • Cognitive Behavioural therapy CBT (solution focused, short-term)
  • Person-Centred counselling (short to long term)
  • Life Coaching (solution focused, short-term)

I work in a relaxed, solution-focused & creative way with INDIVIDUALs of all age-groups experiencing emotional & physical difficulties with - Anxiety, Stress & Depression (my specialism : working with men & stress).

I work :
via the telephone
& also via SKYPE

  • I use email /text support between sessions when needed
  • PLUS provide written sessional feedback and information sheets on specific mental health topics.
  • I set home-tasks to help you test out new ideas & behaviours
  • I send motivating email/ text messages as and when needed
  • I use Mood & Thought Diaries / recognised Questionnaires to monitor anxiety & depression
  • Psychological-Education is important : so I supplement this with information on useful websites & instructions on relaxation techniques & breathing techniques.

After Therapy Support : I provide clients with two 30min follow-up phone calls (free of charge) post-therapy to check your progress and to help you to stay on track.

CBT is a lively &  interactive therapy, that motivates you to take an active interest in monitoring weekly improvements in your emotional & psychological problems. For those who enjoy the feeling of "DOING" something between sessions, tasks are set to help you gain greater self-awareness and to gather evidence to support or disprove your thoughts & beliefs.

  • uncomfortable / worrisome EMOTIONS
  • irrational / repetitive THOUGHTS & thinking habits
  • destructive /isolating BEHAVIOUR

Human-beings are quite smart, so we find lots of temporary solutions to keep things under control e.g.

  • numbing feelings with alcohol or recreational drugs
  • taking days off work
  • avoiding social situations or friends
  • smoking more cigarettes / cannabis etc
  • crying / self harming etc to and express our pain behind closed doors
  • Over-eating / comfort eating  ...etc

BUT what do you do when these temporary solutions stop working?

Managing all these emotional issues can be hard, especially when you are not an expert at Emotional Management - and you don't know 'where to start '

... Once the problems spills over into your work-life, family-life and friendships then it's time to seek some specialist help.

Relationship difficulties are at the heart of most of the Stress, Worry, Anxiety and Depression we experience. So learning how to manage them becomes an ESSENTIAL 'Life Skill'.

1) Firstly we need to 'LIKE' ourselves, some say we need to 'LOVE' ourselves - and so MANY people simply don't know how to do that.

2) S
econdly we need to learn how to repair our damaged SELF-ESTEEM & SELF-CONFIDENCE, this goes a long way towards helping us improve & build positive interactions with others.

The knock-on effect of any of the previous conditions can be:

  • lack of motivation
  • low self-esteem
  • poor self-confidence, and
  • anger issues

Plus variations on ANXIETY SYMPTOMS such as: anxiety attacks, panic disorder, health anxiety, social phobia, driving phobia, agoraphobia, OCD (obsessive compulsive disorders) etc.

WHAT ELSE DO I DO? - Additional Benefits

I pride myself on giving you the RIGHT BALANCE of psychological knowledge, and gentle insights into your family history to help you find your own unique solutions …as no two clients are alike.

Together we find practical ideas & strategies that boost your ability to FIGHT the inevitable stressors that life throws at you, plus you can practice these long after our formal therapeutic sessions are finished.
