I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling (BACP) and Psychotherapy and a registered practitioner with the Professional Standards Authority.
My practice is based on providing a warm, non-judgemental environment in which clients feel comfortable and can work through their issues at their own pace. I see clients for short-term counselling or long term psychotherapy for a range of difficulties that they may be experiencing.
Alongside my private practice I work delivering long-term psychotherapy to female survivors of sexual violence in both child and adulthood.
Being an integrative practitioner means that I draw on a number of therapeutic models to create a holistic approach to therapy, which is also dependant on the issues being explored. I also use mindfulness and body oriented psychotherapy that utilises principles from somatic psychology, which is useful when exploring particular issues of trauma.
I offer the therapies below as an integrative model of counselling and psychotherapy:
- Person-centred Therapy
- Existential Psychotherapy
- Empowerment Psychotherapy
Training, qualifications & experience
My initial training was at Lewisham Counselling & Counsellor Training Associates where I qualified and received a Higher Professional Diploma in Counselling. At the University of Greenwich and gained an undergraduate degree in Counselling. Following this I completed my training at the University of Westminster where I completed my post-graduate training in psychology.
Alongside my private practice I work for a charity supporting female survivors of sexual violence. My approach to working with female survivors of sexual violence includes a unique model of empowerment in which I believe the client is their own best authority on their experience. This approach values and views the client as being fully capable of fulfilling their own potential for growth.
Previous work experience includes adolescence counselling in secondary education and working with survivors of domestic violence.
