I primarily offer weekly 1 hour psychotherapy sessions to individual adults. I work with a wide range of personal difficulties and challenges including anxiety, depression, relationship breakdown, abuse, bereavement and work stress.
I seek to respect each person's individuality and approach my work with them in a way that honours their unique needs and situation. For me the relationship that develops between the therapist and client is key and at the heart of the healing process. My goal is to facilitate an exploration of the situation troubling the client, so that together we can find a way forward into a place of greater well-being. Many symptoms that are triggered by current situations may have their roots in much earlier experience. Simply finding means of managing symptoms can be useful in the short-term but for long-term benefit a deeper level of exploration and healing is needed.
Where appropriate I can also offer psychotherapy sessions outdoors in Nature, drawing on the ecopsychology understanding of the importance of the natural world to our well-being.
Training, qualifications & experience
My training was with the Bath Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling (bcpc) and I qualified as a humanistic and integrative psychotherapist, also gaining accreditation with UKCP. I have over 12 years experience working with clients. Previous to that I trained as a pastoral counsellor.
The ecotherapy side of my work also draws on my ecological and scientific background, enabling me to integrate the therapeutic process with outdoor interaction with Nature.
