Profile

Why seek counselling & psychotherapy?
Choosing therapy is the first step in regaining control of our life and emotional well-being. It is a process of self-discovery where energetic blocks such as deeply held memories, beliefs and traumas are released, and restricting patterns of behaviour can change leading to a more authentic life. From this work we are able to connect to the deepest part of ourselves and others and can live in a more responsible and creative way.

If you are feeling overwhelmed, anxious, depressed, stuck in your life situation, suffering from a traumatic experience or a loss, struggling with addictions, lacking in self-belief, or just feeling aimless and dissatisfied with life, counselling or psychotherapy may help you.

I see my role as someone who travels with you on your inner journey and acts as a mirror reflecting you back to yourself so that you may understand your own behaviours, emotional reactions and patterns and thereby grow in self awareness and begin to make the changes you want in your life.

Finding the right therapist
Finding the right therapist, someone you feel comfortable with and able to open up to is essential.  I work intuitively and empathically drawing on my experience and training to provide what is needed to help activate and allow your own inner healing system to flourish. Feel free to call me for an informal chat on 07725558338 to discuss your needs or requirements.

My Approach
My approach is integrative, meaning I embrace an attitude towards the practice of psychotherapy that affirms the inherent value of each individual. I work holistically to help integrate and find a balance in all aspects of the human being: physical, mental, emotional, spiritual.

I like to work creatively and use a combination of techniques individually designed for each client’s needs. Examples of these techniques include:

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT),
Shadow Work
Active Imagination
Visualisations
Dream Work
Drawing
Psychodrama
Gestalt techniques
Meditation

About Me
I have completed the five year taught component of the Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy and am working towards completing the written requirement of the Diploma course. Also working  towards UKCP and BACP accreditation.

Prior to developing private practices in Cambridge and West London, I previously worked as a counsellor and psychotherapist in training at a Counselling Centre in Notting Hill Gate, at a Women's Centre and as a Bereavement Counsellor, specialising in Grief Counselling and issues concerning abusive relationships. I have also worked extensively with depression, anxiety and self-esteem issues.

I have a deep interest in Eastern philosophy and have been a practitioner of a non-dual spiritual training for 15 years. I have taught and practiced meditation and mindfulness during this time. Bringing western psychology and eastern wisdom together, I offer a truly holistic approach to psychotherapy.

How counselling & psychotherapy can help you
Counselling and psychotherapy can help:

  • Relieve depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, fear and anger
  • Heal damage that has occurred as a result of emotional, physical or sexual
    abuse, neglect, or bereavement
  • Bring unconscious beliefs into consciousness so they can be
    re-evaluated
  • Explore behaviour patterns that cause us to repeat the past in the
    present
  • Resolve relationship problems
  • Address issues with sexuality, body-image, addictions
  • Facilitate growth in creativity and remove blocks
  • Explore hopes, ambitions and spiritual longing

Further Information
My Cambridge practice is located in the centre of Cambridge just off the Market Square in Rose Crescent.    St Marys and Trinity Street are adjacent and the Lions Yard car park is only a 2-3 minutes walk away.

My London practice is based at Little Venice in Maida Vale.  The nearest Underground stations are Paddington, Warwick Avenue, Maida Vale, Royal Oak.

What to expect in the first session
This will be an opportunity for both us to get a sense of each other. It will also be a chance for me to gather some detailed information on your background and what has brought you to counselling or psychotherapy, and from that to evaluate whether or not I am the best person to work with you. All sessions last 50 minutes.
