Profile
My details . . .
I have extensive experience of working with individuals with work related issues, post trauma reactions, stress reactions, relationship issues, anxiety and depression.
This has developed through 25 years experience working in particular with uniformed services, firstly with SSAFA (Soldiers Sailors and Airmen’s Family Association) and latterly within an emergency services occupational health department. I have now established my own Practice providing counselling services to all.
Throughout this time I have been developing and utilising my skills to assist individuals with emotional wellbeing issues and assisting those wishing to undertake personal development.
I am an integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor with a number of techniques and models to use as appropriate for each unique individual and presenting difficulty. Your initial appointment will therefore be an assessment appointment.
Emotional wellbeing . . .
Emotional wellbeing is extremely important to enable us to cope with fast paced lifestyles which are common at this time. However on occasions the pressure we experience becomes too much for us to cope with and our emotional wellbeing is impacted, life becomes a struggle and we can feel overwhelmed. This can occur suddenly after a specific event or can build up gradually over time.
Anxiety and emotional problems can affect the quality of your life.
A therapeutic relationship offers a safe confidential space within which to explore these issues and become more self aware. The process can help with symptom relief and/or looking at the cause of the difficulties.
Setting . . .
I work from two centres, a purpose developed therapy centre close to Newcastle City Centre, with excellent public transport links and free on street parking and private premises in the Whitley Bay area of North Tyneside. The rooms are light, airy, comfortable and private.
Fees . . .
Therapeutic work can be undertaken short or long term depending on individual needs. My fees are from £45-£75 an hour.
I am an Integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor and EMDR Practitioner
accredited with EMDR Europe and UKCP and work within their code of ethics.
I am also available for supervision in respect of both student and qualified counsellors. My rates are £45 per hour.
Appointments . . . short notice appointments are available.
EMDR Treatment . . .
EMDR is an acronym for 'Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing'. EMDR is a powerful psychological treatment method that was developed by an American clinical psychologist, Dr Francine Shapiro, in the 1980s.
Many people have found EMDR to be extremely beneficial with psychological trauma arising from experiences such as war related experiences, childhood sexual and/or physical abuse or neglect, natural disaster, assault, surgical trauma, road traffic accidents and workplace accidents. EMDR is also increasingly used to help individuals with other issues such as anxiety.
