'I have found this practice to be soothing to the soul and the work to be really nurturing. I needed to look at past events that were really painful, and by staying with the process and the pain I was able to become more ‘me’. I have also been able to invest myself and renew myself in society and with my family, by being more honest with myself and others.' P.E.
Training, qualifications & experience
Dr Goldstein initially trained as a psychologist gaining her BSc and PhD at the University of London. She has publications to her name in the field of developmental and cross-cultural psychology and her current research interest are in comparative psychology.
Dr. Goldstein combines her expertise in psychology with humanistic therapy, and in particular Gestalt therapy having trained at the Gestalt Centre London. It is the approach of Gestalt that provides the foundation of her psychotherapy practice.
Gestalt therapy is mainly an existential/experiential form of psychotherapy in which the client is able to explore their habits, relate the context to their way of being (past, social, environment), and make new adjustments to improve well being. Authenticity, and spontaneity are valued whilst in therapy.
Dr Goldstein has previously worked as a bereavement counsellor in the public sector (NHS) and currently she sees patients at the Helen Bamber Foundation, where she works dynamically with issues of trauma and loss, abuse, persecution and domestic violence with people from different countries and cultures.
