Julie Ellen Walters
Hello, my name is Julie and I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor working in the centre of Birkenhead. I work in my own, private practice and also offer counselling in a locally based charity.
As an Integrative Counsellor I use a combination of different approaches that adapt to the unique needs and issues of each client. My role is to reassure you to feel safe and supported, so that you feel comfortable enough to explore any difficulties that are impacting upon your life. I believe that you are the expert on yourself and that we all have the capacity to thrive and grow in the right environment. You will decide what you want to talk about as we work together in a relaxed way to build up a rapport which supports you to talk openly about problems that are affecting your life. Counselling is not about giving advice or telling you what to do but rather exploring ways of making choices and finding your own solutions for yourself.
On a personal note, I am caring, compassionate and friendly and have a passion for supporting people through difficult times to move forward. Having been through my own ups and downs in life I am aware how difficult and overwhelming problems can become and how it takes courage to take the first initial step to seek help. Also when you are anxious, overwhelmed or stuck in these feelings, having someone who you can relate to can be a starting point to unravelling what is going on for you.
A free 30 minute consultation without any obligation to book further sessions is offered to discuss your needs and to explore what issue(s) has prompted you to seek counselling . This is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions and to find out if counselling is the best choice for you. It is also important for us to get to know each other and to see if you feel that I am the right counsellor for you.
If you wish to then arrange further sessions these will last for a full hour and can be long or short term depending on your needs, nature of problem and how many sessions you would like to begin with. Sessions can be booked weekly or in a block depending on what you prefer.
During the first session we will discuss the boundaries of the counselling relationship and what you would like to gain from the sessions as this can provide a base on which to work with.
