Julie Ellen Walters. MBACP
My name is Julie and I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor working in the centre of Birkenhead and also offer counselling in a locally based charity.
As an Integrative Counsellor I use a combination of different approaches ( CBT, Person Centred and Psychodynamic therapy) that adapt to the individual needs of each client. My role is to reassure you to feel safe and supported, so that you feel comfortable enough to explore any difficulties that are impacting upon your life.
Even when life becomes difficult and overwhelming you know more about yourself than anyone else can, so you decide what you want to bring into counselling and work on. During sessions you will be supported to explore what issues are affecting your life whilst you find your own way.
Counselling offers an opportunity to explore your feelings in a confidential safe and impartial environment. As we are all different it is not about giving advice or telling you what to do but rather about finding your own solutions and making choices for yourself. By understanding and exploring problems this may help you to find your own resources to cope with existing and future difficulties.
On a personal note, I am caring, warm and friendly and have a passion for supporting people through difficult times to move forward. Also I am aware how difficult and overwhelming problems can become and how it takes courage to take the first initial step to seek help.
My particular experience includes working with clients with anxiety, depression, stress and bereavement.
An initial free 30 minute consultation without any obligation to book further sessions is offered to discuss your needs and to explore what has prompted you to seek counselling. This is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions and to find out if counselling is the best choice for you. It is also important for us to get to know each other and to find out if I am the right counsellor for you.
If you wish to then arrange further sessions they will last for an hour and generally we will meet weekly. Sessions can be long or short term depending on your needs, nature of the problem and how many sessions you would like to have. These can be booked weekly or in a block depending on what you prefer.
During the first booked one hour session before we begin we will discuss the counselling contract and what you would like to gain from the sessions as this can provide a base on which to work from.
If you have any further questions please feel free to contact me by email or phone.
