About me

My aim is to bring together effective approaches incorporating a variety of therapeutic models such as relational therapy, humanistic, psychodynamic, attachment theory, person centred and neuroscience. This will also depend on your individual needs. My experience also covers body psychotherapy and energy work.

I offer both short and long term therapy and the length of therapy will depend upon the presenting issues and your wishes. I can also bring in a creative element by offering the use of drawing, sand tray and figures to help the unconscious mind uncover the hidden truths.

Is there a particular problem you would like to talk through and explore? This could be to do with a relationship, work related or a repeating pattern that you are aware of or has been pointed out to you.

There may be deep seated issues relating to your history and your sense of belonging such as with adoption.

Health problems and chronic pain may also be causing stress and anxiety and we can use techniques to aid with the healing process. I have researched a great deal around neuroscience and pain and how these issues affect the brain chemistry.

I believe the relationship between therapist and client to be very important where we explore issues together and with this I offer an empathic, supportive, safe and confidential space with challenge where necessary.  I see the individual with all their complexities opposed to just a diagnosis.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am an experienced Integrative Psychotherapist following an Intensive 6 year Master’s degree course in Integrative Psychotherapy and counselling at the Minster Centre in London.

I have been working with people therapeutically for 30 years both in private practice, the NHS and domestic abuse charities.  I have experience with a number of issues including bereavement, depression, anxiety, generalised anxiety disorder, panic disorder, work related issues, relationship breakdown, family issues, phobias, addiction, trauma, abuse, chronic pain, adoption, domestic abuse, pre/post natal depression, aspergers, personality disorders and many more.

I have worked with all age groups including managing a children’s therapy centre.

I also worked for many years as a Reiki healer and teacher and the combination of both Psychotherapy and energy work lends itself to a very effective, holistic and lasting treatment.

My background started off with training to be a homeopath and naturopath whilst living overseas. I helped many people over the years with their health issues and it was during this time that I realised often people came to me to talk about what was going on in their lives, as a homeopathic consultation involves a vast amount of getting to the bottom of what is going on for a person. It was then I decided to train to be a psychotherapist to improve my understanding and delve deeper.

My experience also covers many years of working with women and children who have been affected by domestic abuse where I worked as a manager in a women’s centre and supervising a children’s therapeutic service.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
