Dr Julie Beavan-Pearson BA MA CPsychol AFBPsS
I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist (British Psychological Society) and a Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) Registered Practitioner Psychologist. I am also an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society. I see adults in Hereford (Tuesdays) and Ludlow (Wednesdays).
As a Clinical Psychologist I have been trained to Doctorate level in a range of talking therapies - including Cognitive-Behavioural therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic psychotherapy, Solution focused therapy Mindfulness and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). This means that I am able to draw on a wide range of psychological therapies and models to fit your own unique circumstances and experiences. This is very different to the majority of other therapists who are often only trained to a more basic level in one or two different therapeutic approaches that may, or may not be suitable for your needs.
I qualified in 2003 and since this time I have worked both within the NHS and the private sector. I set up my own private practice a number of years ago. I focus on building a safe and collaborative relationship in which you can feel safe to talk freely about what is troubling you. In this way you can both grow and make changes- enabling you to move forward and meet your therapeutic goals.
I have a wealth of experience in helping adults and adolescents struggling with a range of difficulties including stress, anxiety, low mood, depression, relationship difficulties, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, work related issues, abuse, trauma, eating disorders and low self-esteem. However if the issues you are faced with is not on this list please don't worry- this list is by no means exclusive!
I am aware that people can feel very anxious when coming for their first session- and with this in mind I do everything that I can to put you at your ease. However the majority of people comment that the time passes very quickly during therapy- and it's time to go home before they know it.
Please feel free to contact me for an initial chat before deciding whether to make an appointment. I am more than happy to give you a call at a time that is convenient for you.
