About me

I am a Relate trained fully qualified counsellor and am able to offer a confidential, non-judgmental and respectful space for you to explore the issues which are concerning you.

Counselling provides an opportunity to talk through issues and I am here to support you to explore what is going on for you and to help you to achieve a greater understanding of yourself and your relationship with others.

Everyone is an individual, so I will work with what you as a client bring to the counselling room.

Counselling can help with:

  • Greater sense of self-worth and self-awareness
  • Increased confidence and self-esteem
  • Feeling calmer and more relaxed
  • Better communication skills
  • More intimate and satisfying relationships
  • Develop healthier patterns of relating to others

How I work

I offer a free initial telephone consultation as it is important for you to discover if you would feel comfortable working with me. This will also give you time to discuss what is troubling you, to ask questions and to get an understanding of how counselling works.

I offer counselling for individuals as well as couples and I see people with many different issues including anxiety, depression, family issues, panic disorder, loss and change, including affairs and betrayals. I also specialise in both relationship and bereavement counselling.

My counselling approach is integrative, person-centred, psychodynamic and systemic, which means I have a range of approaches to use when working in the counselling room.

Outside of my private practice, I previously worked for Relate helping couples and individuals work through their relationship issues such as communication breakdown, parenting issues, affairs, bereavement, work or financial stresses and intimacy issues.

I also worked as a counsellor at a local Hospice providing bereavement support to those whose loved ones have died. I work with clients helping them move forward through the grief process. I am very passionate about the work that I did at the Hospice.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
