About me

I am a qualified psychodynamic psychotherapist providing a warm, supportive and non-judgmental space for you to bring whatever it is you feel the need to talk about. I am there to listen to you with empathy and to help you think about your feelings, however difficult they may be. I have experience of working with a wide range of issues including:

  • depression
  • anxiety/panic
  • difficulties with relationships
  • bereavement/loss
  • abuse
  • anger issues
  • low self-esteem
  • feelings of emptiness/meaninglessness
  • sexual concerns
  • work-related problems
  • difficult family relationships
  • fertility, pregnancy and parenthood

I am a registered member of the BPC and the BACP and work under their ethical code. I hold a professional qualification in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy as well as a previous qualification in Psychodynamic Counselling. I have also completed an MA in Psychoanalytic Studies and a previous degree in Psychology and Counselling.

How therapy can help you

It can be hard trying to cope on your own. Talking to a trained professional helps you make sense of your thoughts and feelings and it means you have somebody on your side while you face difficult times. My approach is psychodynamic, which means I explore with you both your conscious and your unconscious mind in order to facilitate long-lasting change.

Therapy can be arranged to last a set number of sessions if you want to address a specific issue. For more complex problems it may be better to work with an open-ended contract. This means that the therapy continues for as long as you need it. During the first session we decide together what feels most appropriate for you.

Initial consultation

Developing personal rapport is important and the initial consultation gives both of us a chance to see if we can work together. It also provides you with the opportunity to bring up any questions or concerns.

Location

My consulting room is located within walking distance of Canada Water, Rotherhithe, Surrey Quays and Bermondsey stations and near bus routes 1, 47, 188, 381, C10 and P12. One hour free parking is available just outside the building.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
