About me

I'm a highly experienced 'Highly Specialist Family and Systemic Psychotherapist'. I work in independent practice and within the NHS in an inpatient setting for young people and in a day programme for Eating Disorders.  My therapeutic relationships are created to be a compassionate, confidential and non-judgmental space where difficult, sometimes painful,  issues can be explored. As a provider of psychotherapeutic services at the highest level within NHS, I have deep experience with a wide range of mental health and behavioural problems for individuals, families and couples & children, teens & adults and older. I have a deep interest in and substantial experience of Eating Disorders and challenges with Neurodiversity.

You may wish to explore relationship difficulties, sexual or gender issues, bereavement, abuse, trauma, anxiety, depression, stress, eating disorders, family issues or addiction. You may also want to make changes to your life so you can throw open the doors to your potential. My work is always respectful & collaborative. In school-aged children and with parents I have extensive experience in the diagnosis of  Autism & ADHD & post-diagnosis support and the design of parenting programmes.

Sessions are usually 60 minutes, though some clients prefer 90 minutes. The therapeutic work is co-created so that sessions can be spaced weekly, 2 or 3 weekly or more and the end date is based on clinical and client judgments, not an arbitrary fixed number.

Working compassionately with my clients is the very heart of my work. Client care and well-being is core to my personal and clinical judgment. It is important to me to make my clients feel safe, comfortable, listened to and appreciated. Client feedback emphasises my warm humane approach and that clients have felt that for the first time in perhaps many years, they have been able to deal effectively with things that had been locked away for a very long time because of fear, shame and embarrassment, but that they were also able to accomplish so much more than the end of anguish by the gaining of a new joy, motivation for living and happiness.

Areas of Work Undertaken

Anxiety, & Depression, Autism, Family Conflict & Relationship Difficulties, Sex, Sexuality and Gender, PTSD, Self-Harm, Parental Alienation, Sexual abuse, (perhaps suffered in childhood), Substance and Alcohol misuse, Bipolar Disorder, (also known as manic depression), OCD, Bereavement and where there may be Criminal Justice Involvement.

*With an additional 20-plus years of professional experience in research and university work and in family law also means that I am very well placed to help those involved with the family courts and can provide psychological reports where required.
