About me

I am a psycho-dynamically trained counsellor, writer and qualified trainer in the Myers-Briggs® Personality Type. I also belong to Lapidus, the national network of well-being writing practitioners.

I see individuals for short-term counselling, with a particular emphasis on issues of stress, anxiety, loss, depression and mid-life transition.
I also run workshops in Myers-Briggs® and writing. Write for Growth workshops are for creativity and wellbeing are monthly. I have a monthly journalling for wellbeing group in Chester, called Way With Words.
I run creative writing sessions for cancer patients.

I put on CPD events in therapeutic writing for counsellors, such as Writing Through Cancer, Writing the Journeys We Never Wanted to Make, as well as training events for Hospice counsellors.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a BA in English Literature and Language (Oxon) and an MA in Creative Writing (MMU).

I also have a PGCE (Nottingham) as I taught English at Secondary Level for 11 years before studying for a Post-Grad Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling (Leicester).

In recent years I have taken various courses in Writing and Health Care, notably at Ty Newedd in 2013.

I qualified as a counsellor in 2001, and after a period of placements and work in Student Counselling Services and as a Practice Counsellor at a GP Surgery near Chester, I went into private practice in 2006, working mainly with EAPs.

Alongside this I have written. My publications include 'Making the Most of Midlife,'(2006) 'Growing Spiritually with the Myers-Briggs® Model'(2008) and 'Writing our Faith' (2013) - all with SPCK.  My first poetry collection 'Chester City Walls' was published by Poetry Space in 2015.

I run writing workshops independently, but have also run Myers-Briggs workshops for Medical Centres in Chester, Primary School Staff, and Liverpool and Chester Diocese.
