About me

I have been working as a qualified counsellor for 18 years. I believe in counselling and the benefits it can have for you and your relationships. Counselling gives you the opportunity to talk to someone like me in confidence, who has no other role in your life. Sometimes family and friends find it hard to listen to their loved ones talking about their emotional pain. They often want to take away the pain and give advice. Or you might find it impossible to know who to talk to or who you can trust. As your counsellor I will listen to you, and support you with your very painful and difficult thoughts and feelings. It could really help improve your quality of life.

BEREAVEMENT COUNSELLOR

I am a very experienced Bereavement counsellor.I worked for Cruse Bereavement Care for 10 years with individuals and groups. Long term and short term work.
When someone close to you dies you may experience a deep sense of loss leading to feelings of sadness, Anger, guilt, Anxiety, Depression and other related feelings. It is also common to have difficulties with eating, sleeping, poor concentration, headaches and other physical symptoms. These emotions and physical symptoms can sometimes be overwhelming and make everyday living difficult. These symptoms are a normal reaction to grief however if they persist for a time it can be helpful to talk things over with someone outside your family or social circle.

ABOUT ME

I began training as a counsellor because as a nurse I didn't have enough time to give the emotional support I felt was needed to my patients and their families at very difficult and distressing times. When I worked in Accident and Emergency I found myself wondering what happened to the bereaved and traumatised patients family and friends. Counselling has helped me with my own bereavements. I really enjoy the work I do and being able to offer the emotional support that we all need at certain times in our lives.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
