About me

You are welcome if you need support right now. I work in a peaceful Harbourside location in Bristol. I am honoured to have been able to support and guide many diverse people's therapeutic journeys over a thirty  year period. The way I professionally work has grown and evolved over the years. However what I have found to be essentially important is to be warm-hearted and have a deep respect for the humanity, culture and individual health and suffering of each person or couple I work with.

I positively welcome clients of any ethnic background and /or sexuality and have experience and training of working within many different cultural perspectives

I meet each person where they are in an integrative way and incorporate a gentle yet powerful mindfulness based therapy (Core-Process) which brings awareness to thoughts feelings and sensations in the mind/body allowing change to happen in the present. To access your health or difficulties you may want to talk, use creative materials, symbol or sense deeply into your body through stillness or movement. Everyone is different. You maybe very clear you only want to talk or use one of the other accesses I have mentioned. However sometimes its useful to have support to experiment with a new access to your difficulties especially if you feel you know about your issues but have not yet been able to move through them. This can be a common situation for many people.

I particularly enjoy and am skilled at working with people who are considering entering their first counselling or therapy experience and may be nervous as well as welcoming people who have already experienced the value of counselling or therapy and are returning to start a new phase of deeper personal work.

Please note I have recently partially retired

I am now  mostly offering,  room to talk \ offload one off  sessions  and short to medium therapy sessions

I have my own daily spiritual practice and am happy to work alongside any spiritual tradition or none.

Couple counselling
I have worked with many couples with a wide range of orientations. Helping to clarify their identified conflicts or to help strengthen each persons autonomy and communication skills, thus bringing awareness to each partners capacity for intimacy and separateness and how this impacts on the relationship as a whole. I offer support both for an exploration of deepening relationship and for conscious separation or divorce.

I also offer supervision of counsellors, psychotherapists, complementary therapists and non-managerial supervision for people working in the statutory and voluntary sectors (Please see my supervisor prophile)

Training, qualifications & experience

My original training was in Occupational Therapy. I worked for many years in the NHS both in Psychiatry and in the Learning disability field.

For the last twenty five years I have worked as a counsellor and psychotherapist with a post graduate diploma in Core Process Psychotherapy, mostly in private practice. I also do support and supervision, both individual and group, for small charities at a reduced rate and am registered to do trauma work with Medicine Sans Frontier (Doctors without borders)

I am accredited through UKCP.
