Julia Gill MBACP (Accred)
37-41 Gower Street
I have been working as a counsellor for twenty years. I offer long term counselling, where we explore in depth your areas of concern. I also offer short term counselling for up to 12 weeks, where we focus on one particular issue. I have worked with clients who have varying concerns, such as, depression, anxiety, bereavement, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties.
Your first step is to contact me for an initial meeting, where we can talk through your reasons for wanting counselling. This first meeting is to build up a picture of you and to explore if the type of counselling I offer may be of benefit to you.
I mainly work psychodynamically, though I do work slightly differently when doing bereavement counselling. Psychodynamic counselling partly involves, looking at how childhood and early relationships with our parents or care givers, can impact on our present lives. During the counselling process, we explore the beliefs you may hold about yourself and how they influence your feelings about yourself and others. By becoming more self aware, we can begin to make changes in our lives.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a diploma in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and Counselling, from Regents College. I am an accredited and registered counsellor, with The British Association of Counselling and
Psychotherapy. A requirement of continued membership to the BACP, is to complete a certain amount of new training each year.
I have been trained and worked as a bereavement counsellor.
I also do work as a Initial Consultation assessor, for a north London counselling centre.
